IN CONCLUSION

Art film and entertainment film are two very different and distinct forms of video. They differ in the intent of the piece; entertainment films are made primarily to make money for the studios they originate from. Art films are more of a personal exploration through video that are not confined to any one genre. They differ in how they are made. Art films tend to be more independent and push the boundaries on everything from editing styles to subject matter, where entertainment films are extremely collaborative and use accepted conventions of their genre. The two forms can draw inspiration from one another through artistic cinematography or using conventions from the others genres. They exist separately despite attempts to merge the two. They are designed to be viewed with different connotations and that will not change based on society’s current perception of what art and entertainment are.
